Solar fountain Pump

Solar fountain pump

A1. Why do you need a solar pump?
Just imagine a fountain with no running costs and no unsightly or dangerous cables; a fountain which takes only minutes to install, and which boosts the oxygen in your pond; a really attractive feature for your garden at a competitive price. You've just imagined a solar fountain pump. "Solar pearl" is constructed for the activation of pond water and swimming pool water, without shifting to 240 or 110 V AC voltage. Optimally suited to a garden pond area, where primary energy should be saved or is not available because of security reasons.

A2. What is Solar Power?
Put most simply, Solar Power is a way of converting sunlight into a useful energy source, via a small solar panel which 'collects' the light and stores it for use. Solar Power works on light, not heat, and can be used for many, many purposes - the compact panels supplied by solar fountain pumps are particularly well-suited to domestic uses such as lighting, fans and, of course, garden water features.

A3. What's the benefit of using Solar Power?
There are many! First and foremost, solar power is so simple - when setting up a fountain, all you have to do is connect the panel to the pump, and away you go! There is no need to call in an electrician - otherwise essential, as electricity and water are a dangerous combination. Solar Power is safe for children and pets - no trailing cables or need for circuit breakers. It also means you can site features in nooks and crannies - no need to worry where your mains supply is. And finally - of course - Solar Power is the 'green' option - care for your planet whilst enhancing your garden. .

A4. Does the panel need to be right beside the pond?
No, within reason the panel can be anywhere up to 20 meters/ 60 feet away from the pond.

A5. Is it better than a mains pump?
Yes, it's much simpler. You don't need to bury armored cable. You don't need timers or circuit breakers and there is no chance of getting electrocuted. You just put the pump in the water; point the panel toward the sun; plug them together - and that's it! It's also very portable, so if you have another water feature at the other end of your garden or you move to a new house, the solar fountain pump is really easy to move.

A6. Will it be OK in winter?
Yes, as long as it's not freezing. Any pump, mains pump or solar pump must be disconnected or taken out of the water if it's freezing, in case the pump freezes and then tries to work. But you can simply disconnect it before the weather freezes and plug it in when it's nice, because solar fountains will work just as well on a sunny day in January as they do in the summer...

B2. What does the fountain look like?
The LJ01-S pump needs a max. of just 5 Wp. Solar power. The water pearls with a diameter of 1 cm can jump up to 2,0 m high. Only the tempo of the water pulse depends on the sun radiation, e.g. a 240 mA Solar current reaches tempo of about 120 times per min. At about 20 mA solar current, like the weather is hazy, each beat takes about 7 sec. Through the interval is longer, the water pulse still reaches the same height of about 1.5-2.0 m.

B3. What is the effect in the garden?
It is not a motionless appearance like some fountain pumps. Our pump is an eyecatcher for viewers, because of its very attractive and dynamic appearance in the garden, and creates a relaxing effect. This feature allows the harmonization of sunrays and water. The interplay of both natural elements sun and water is clearly displayed. Therefore the pump is suitable for educational advertising as well as demonstration of "the power of sunshine".

B4. Can "dry-run" damage the pump ?
The pump is insensitive to dry run and can dry run for hours without damage.

B5. How reliable is the pump?
Our pump is a real "pum! p!", There are just two moving parts in the pump: the piston and a valve with a spring. Both are wear-resistant. The piston is lubricated by water. Algae can hardly cling to the specially treated metal tube to guarantees frictionless operation. The high-grade steel case as well as the chromed deck- and bottom part remain intact can work for years in water and keep their shiny appearance.

B6. Can the pump run on battery?
Since the pump even works at minimal solar power, it is not suitable for battery operation. Connection with a battery will damage the pump!!!

B7. What is the optimal power of the solar panel to run the pump?
This question is good one, because solar panels are not cheap. In our pump only the tempo of the water pulse depends on the sun radiation, e.g. a 240 mA Solar current reaches a tempo of approx. 120 times per min. At about 20 mA solar current, if the weather is hazy, then one pulse takes about 7 sec. Therefore the optimal size of the solar panel only depends on the desired of the consumes, according to the local weather where they live. So you can run this pump with a solar panel of 2 Wp. in Los Angeles USA. We recommend using a solar panel of 5 Wp. in Germany.

B9. What is the ideal solar panel for my fountain?
As we know, the intensity of sun radiation varies over ten times of a day, so the location of the end-user is important for the choice of the optimal solar panel. The optimal panel for the end-user depends on the guidance of the solar merchant, who is more qualified to consider technical performance, local knowledge and imagination to optimize the "SOLAR PEARL" pump with different solar modules.

B10. How can I determine "Even if the weather is hazy", how quick the pumps runs?
If you can see just the shadow under the solar panel, with the panel pointed towards the sun, the tempo of the LJ01-G with 4 Wp. solar panel reaches approx. 40 times per min. With the same situation, if there are 3 pumps for the LJ01-G connected together with a 12 Wp solar panel, the tempo reaches about 30 times per min.

B11. How do I install the pump?
A waterproof pump weighs approx. 1.5 kg and is supported with a swimmer ring and 3m cable. The purchaser just needs to connect the solar module and put the pump into the water. Caution: instantaneous spraying action! Enjoy the fun.

B12. How big shall my pond be for the pump?
Because the water pearls with a diameter of ca. 1 cm can jump to a height up to 2,0 m, the pond should not be smaller than 1 m2 . For bigger ponds there is a special version of the LJ01-G offered.

B13. Is my fish happy with the pump?
No problem. In the beginning the fish in the pond might be shy, but after a few days they accept the pump and There is sufficient oxygen in the pond water as we have observed.

B14. The fountain jumps too high for me, what shall I do?
Yes, for some small ponds, the fountain could seem too high. The water pearls might be blown out of the pond by the wind, so that the pond loses water. In this case you can change to another jet with a bigger nozzle. Ask your dealer please, or you can take off the ring from the top of the spring. In this way the water pearls jump lower.

B16. The pump works noisy and uneasy. What can I do against that?
These circumstances are caused by not enough water flowment in the pump. Possible reasons: 1.The position of the swimring is too low. The pump is swimming too high on the water surface, which causes the pondwater to not be able to flow fast enough into the pump. Solution: Rearrange the swimring again. 2. The capacity of the solar panel is too high. In this case, the pump runs too fast, so that the water cannot refill fast enough. Solution: Rearrange the panel aside from the direct sunshine, it will reduce the tact frequency of the pump.

B17. How does Liujia Solar Pump differ from those Solar pumps, which produce continuously fountains?
Solar energy is not a constant energy. The intensity of the energy varies often over ten times a day. It means that the height of waterfountains of the pumps, which produce continuously fountains, are parallel connected to the sun's intensity. A simplified example: On a sunny day, a water fountain pump with a circle-engine can shoot the water up to one meter high. When a tenfold reduction of the solar intensity occurs (e.g. cloudy), the height of the water fountains just reach up to 0.1 meters, sometimes even less. The sunlight radiation changes the water output of Liujia Pump, too, but only the tact frequency from 120 times/min. to 12 times/min.. The height of the water fountain stays the same.
